In Eli Lilly and Company–sponsored, placebo-controlled clinical trials, olanzapine IM injections were administered into the upper outer quadrants of the right or left gluteus maximus muscles.

Olanzapine for injection (rapid acting) is intended for intramuscular (IM) use only. Do not administer intravenously or subcutaneously.1
Olanzapine IM should be injected slowly, deep into the muscle mass.1,2 There is no recommendation regarding a specific site for IM injection.
