HUMULIN® R U-500 (insulin human injection): Route of Administration

Humulin R U-500 should be injected subcutaneously into the thigh, upper arm, abdomen, or buttocks.

Detailed Information

Patients should inject their prescribed dose of U-500R SC into the

  • thigh

  • upper arm

  • abdomen, or 

  • buttocks.

Injection sites should be rotated within the same region from one injection to the next to reduce the risk of lipodystrophy. Do not administer U-500R IV or IM.

The efficacy and safety of U-500R delivered by CSII has not been determined.
