Teriparatide is quickly absorbed from the injection site, has a half-life of approximately 1 hour, and is undetectable in the blood within 3 hours.1
Systemic clearance of teriparatide is approximately 62 L/hr in women and 94 L/hr in men, which exceeds the rate of normal liver plasma flow, consistent with both hepatic and extra-hepatic clearance.1
Teriparatide is rapidly eliminated with a decrease to non-quantifiable concentrations within 3 hours of the dose.1
