Does CIALIS® (tadalafil) cause increased risk of sudden hearing loss with once-daily use?

There is no evidence to suggest once-a-day dosing of tadalafil increases the risk of sudden hearing loss compared with as-needed use of a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.

Detailed Information

Sudden hearing loss has been reported in men taking phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, including tadalafil. It is not possible to determine whether these events are related directly to the use of PDE5 inhibitors or to other factors.1

We have no evidence to suggest that once-a-day dosing of tadalafil increases the risk of sudden hearing loss compared with as-needed use of a PDE5 inhibitor.

Physicians should advise patients to stop taking PDE5 inhibitors, including tadalafil, and seek prompt medical attention in the event of sudden decrease or loss of hearing.1
