The primary activity of insulin, including Basaglar, is regulation of glucose metabolism.1

Insulin and its analogs lower BG concentrations by

  • stimulating peripheral glucose uptake, especially by skeletal muscle and fat, and

  • inhibiting hepatic glucose production.1

Insulin inhibits lipolysis and proteolysis, and enhances protein synthesis.1
